The coquí symbol is a powerful emblem of Puerto Rican identity, bridging the ancient Taíno past with present-day culture, celebrating nature, mythology, and a deep connection to the island. There is a Puerto Rican expression that goes, "Soy de aquí, como el coquí" which translates to, "I'm from here, like the coquí."
